Rehab after an ACL reconstruction is a long road, and every stage has its own goal: settle the swelling, get the knee straight, rebuild strength, then return to running, jumping and finally sport.

The milestones

  • First weeks: walking normally and getting the knee fully straight.
  • Strength: rebuilding the thigh and hip muscles step by step.
  • Running and jumping: introduced once strength targets were met.
  • Back on court: after passing return-to-sport testing, not just after a set number of weeks.

This article is general information, not a diagnosis. If you're in pain, a Physiotherapist can assess you properly and tell you what will help.
